Kerry has a healthy and active mountain biking community. Lots of spins, club rides, uplift days and races are on the MTB calendar in the county. What is shocking though, and this isn’t specific to Kerry, is the absence of women and girls on the trails.

This has to be fixed. This is a symptom of a sport in serious trouble.

To that end, MTBKY will begin work on promoting the sport to women and girls with the aim of making this an attractive way to spend time outdoors while getting and staying healthy.

We need to create a self sustaining female mountain biking community through regular spins, workshops and events. MTBKY will be working to run at least one workshop and one event by Summer 2020. Stay tuned for more on that, but in the meantime, link up with us for spins of every level.

Whether you’ve never tried mountain biking or are a seasoned rider looking to link up with others, drop us a line and we will get you connected.

IMBA Europe began running International Womens Mountain Biking Day in 2018 and we plan on running an event targeting women to align with the 2020 date. Join us on the 2nd of May!
